The Right Of Free Speech
Free Speech. I don't often think much about it, but lately I have had good cause to think more on the subject. One of the greatest protections afforded to people in the US is the ability to speak freely. The oft-affirmed right of any individual to state their opinion, or even to repeat facts that are substantially true. It's liberating, and something I think I would want to stand for. There are far too often times when I think I should study harder, study more, try to learn everything about how the world works as it stands. I'm not sure what's holding me back, perhaps a lack of time, or perhaps I under imagine what can be accomplished. Among many things I might want to study is the ways to protect these freedoms - to fight for people's freedom to speak. Because as long as we can speak freely, we can be free. And when we are free, only then can our imaginations create a better world.
